An installation concept for Burning Man 2026. The sculpture is an exploration of Aldous Huxley’s 1954 book “The Doors of Perception”. The main structure is a brutalist steel tower with 7 massive doorways with chain-link veils covering 7 steel eyes. Participants are able to interact with the tower and open / close the 7 doors. Unique sound effects and choreographed lighting effects will be triggered when each door is opened. Various voice recordings of passages from the book with mind-bending 360 sound design will echo inside the tower walls. Above each doorway are huge steel eyes that look out into the open playa. Each doorway will be themed to key topics of the book and will weave-in various introspective psychedelic topics, which were inspired by Aldous’s famous Mescaline trip back in the early 1950’s.
